Understanding the Indicator Light on Your Smart Camera
The indicator light on your smart camera provides valuable information about its current status. By understanding the light's colour and blinking pattern, you can easily diagnose whether everything is working properly or if there’s an issue.Indicator Light ColoursYour smart device's indicator light can show two colours: red and green.Note: For GC2 and GC3 models, the light is red and white, not red and green. The blinking speed can be either fast (twice per second) or slow (once per second). The light may also stay solid (not blinking), which usually means a stable connection — or an abnormal state, depending on the colour.🔴 When the Indicator Light Shows RedSlow BlinkingA slow blinking red light means your smart device is ready to connect to Wi-Fi.👉 What to do: Place the device on a stable surface, away from strong lights or reflections. Hold the QR code from your phone 10–20 cm in front of the camera lens and move it slowly until the camera scans it. Fast BlinkingA fast blinking red light indicates the device is upgrading its firmware.👉 What to do: Wait for the firmware upgrade to complete (3-5 minutes). Ensure both the power and network signal are stable. Do not disconnect power or the internet during this process. Solid Red (Not Blinking)A solid red light means the device is in an abnormal state, likely due to a power issue.👉 What to do: Replace the power adapter and USB cable. Avoid using fast-charging or high-power plugs. If the issue persists, contact customer support. 🟢 When the Indicator Light Shows GreenSlow BlinkingA slow blinking green light means the device cannot find a Wi-Fi signal and is unable to connect.👉 What to do: Make sure your Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz. Ensure your Wi-Fi name uses only letters and numbers (no special symbols). If still not working, try connecting via your mobile hotspot. Fast BlinkingA fast blinking green light indicates the device cannot connect to the server.👉 What to do: Check if your router network is functioning properly. Ensure no firewall or restrictions are blocking the connection. Avoid using public Wi-Fi that requires additional authentication. Solid Green (Not Blinking)A solid green light means the device has successfully connected to Wi-Fi.👉 What to do: The device is now ready to use for monitoring. Note: If the device shows offline in the app even though the light is solid green, it may be due to an unstable network or voltage. Try unplugging the device for 10-15 seconds and plugging it back in. 🔴🟢 When the Indicator Light Alternates Between Red and GreenThe meaning of alternating red and green lights can vary depending on your device's firmware version:Firmware 4.4.x and Above Fast alternating red & green (brief, then stops): Incorrect Wi-Fi password. Slow alternating red & green: The Wi-Fi module may be damaged. Green slow blinking only: Device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi, please switch to 2.4GHz. Firmware Below 4.4.x Slow alternating red & green: Incorrect Wi-Fi password. Green slow blinking only: Connected to 5GHz Wi-Fi by mistake. Switch to 2.4GH...

Fast Blinking Green Indicator Light: Camera Cannot Connect to the Server
If your camera’s green indicator light is blinking rapidly, it means the camera is unable to connect to the server.Note: For GC2 and GC3 models, the light is red and white, not red and green. This is usually related to network or router restrictions. Please check the following items one by one.Check Your Internet ConnectionMake sure your internet is working properly.Use another phone or device connected to the same Wi-FiConfirm you can browse websites or use apps normallyIf the network itself is unstable or offline, the camera won’t be able to connect.Check Router RestrictionsSome router settings may block smart devices from accessing the internet. Please confirm:Firewall or security blocking features are disabled (or allow the camera through)AP isolation, device isolation, or similar restrictions are turned offMAC address filtering is not enabledAny of these settings may prevent the camera from reaching the server.Avoid Public or Restricted Wi-Fi NetworksMake sure the camera is connected to a private home Wi-Fi network. The camera does not support:Public Wi-Fi networksHotel, office, or school Wi-FiCaptive portals that require a web login pageThese networks often block server connections and will cause setup or connection failures. If the issue continues after checking all items above, try restarting your router and camera, then reconnect the device in the app.

Why Smart Device Disconnects Even When Wi-Fi Signal Looks Strong
Sometimes your device shows full Wi-Fi bars, yet it still disconnects, goes offline, or keeps failing to connect. Strong signal doesn’t always mean a stable network. Below are the most common reasons—and how to fix them.1. The Device Is on the Wrong Frequency BandSome smart devices only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Even if the signal appears strong, connecting through the wrong band or an automatically switched band can cause frequent dropouts. What to checkWi-Fi name ends with “_5G”Router has Band Steering or 802.11k/v/r enabled (these features switch devices automatically)Recommended fixRename the networks into two separate SSIDs:Home-2.4GHome-5GThen reconnect the device to the 2.4GHz network.2. Mesh or Multi-Router Systems Switch the Device Between NodesMesh systems improve overall coverage but may cause smart devices to jump between nodes, leading to unstable connections. What to doTurn off smart roaming or auto node switchingConnect the device to a fixed node (usually the main router)3. DHCP Lease Time Is Too ShortA short DHCP lease means your router keeps reassigning the device’s IP address, which can cause repeated offline events.Recommended settingDHCP Lease Time: 1440 minutes (24 hours) or longerThis helps maintain a stable connection.4. Router Security Settings Blocking the DeviceSome router protections may unintentionally block smart devices—even if the signal is full.Make sure the following are turned offSSID hidingAP isolationMAC address filteringGuest networkParental controlsAnti-intrusion / anti-piggybacking toolsAny one of these features can interrupt device communication.5. Wi-Fi Channel InterferenceHigh-density environments(apartments, office buildings)often experience overlapping channels. A strong signal doesn’t help if interference is heavy.Recommended settingsUse channel 1, 6, or 11Set bandwidth to 20MHz (40MHz increases interference)6. Router Overload or Performance IssuesIf your router is handling too many devices, it may drop connections randomly—even with strong Wi-Fi bars.Suggested stepsRestart your router once a weekRemove unused devices from the networkKeep the router in a cool, ventilated area7. Outdated Firmware or App VersionFirmware updates often address stability issues, and outdated versions can cause random offline behavior.Check in the Osaio appDevice firmware versionApp versionMake sure both are up to date. If you’ve tried everything above and your connection is still unstable, feel free to contact our support team—we’ll help you review your network setup more closely.

Cannot Find Your Exact Camera Model in the Device List?
If you’re setting up your camera and can’t locate the exact model name in the Osaio App — don’t panic! This is actually quite common. Why This HappensSome camera models have different names in the app than what is printed on your product packaging or shown in online listings. For example:GP10 — name shown on the box or store pageP10 — model name displayed in the appThis difference is simply due to internal naming conventions. It does not affect setup, performance, or compatibility. What You Should DoDuring setup:Select the closest matching model name shown in the appFor a GP10 camera, choose P10 in the device selection listOnce connected, the device will work normally like any other camera.Need Help Choosing the Right Model? If you’re unsure which one to select:Contact our support teamShare a photo of your camera or packagingWe’ll help you confirm the correct model quickly so you can get connected without hassle.

Camera Fails to Detect Motion or Sends False Alerts
If your camera doesn’t detect people, packages, or motion in time, or if it frequently sends false alerts for still objects such as vehicles, plants, or reflections, the issue is often related to detection settings, camera placement, or environmental conditions. Follow the guide below to identify the cause and improve detection accuracy.Troubleshooting Steps1. Check Motion Detection and Notification SettingsOpen the camera settings in the app.Ensure Motion Detection and Notifications are both enabled.Adjust detection sensitivity to a higher level if motion is not being captured promptly.Tip: Start from “High” and fine-tune according to your environment to avoid too many alerts.2. Review Detection Zone and Camera PlacementMake sure the detection zone covers the area where movement occurs.Avoid placing the camera too high or at extreme angles — optimal height is around 6.5–7 ft (2 m).Ensure there are no reflective surfaces (glass, mirrors, bright walls) in the detection area, which may confuse motion analysis.3. Consider Lighting and Movement TypeSudden changes in light (e.g., car headlights, sunlight reflections) may trigger false alerts.Slow-moving or partially hidden objects may not be detected — ensure the scene is well lit and the target is fully visible.4. Restart the Camera and ReconnectPower cycle your camera by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then reconnect. If issues persist, try removing and re-adding the device in the app to refresh the connection and configuration.5. Update FirmwareCheck for the latest firmware version in the app’s camera settings.Updating firmware helps improve AI detection accuracy and reduces false alerts.Still Having Trouble? If you’ve adjusted the settings and the issue remains, please send a short video clip showing the detection problem along with your device model number to our technical support team. We’ll help analyze the detection performance and offer further guidance.

SD Card Capacity Display Smaller Than Actual — Possible Causes and Solutions
Why Does My SD Card Show Less Storage in the App?If the SD card capacity shown in the Osaio app appears significantly smaller than the actual capacity of your card (for example, a 128 GB card showing only 0.28 GB or a few gigabytes), don’t worry — this doesn’t necessarily mean your SD card is damaged. The issue is often related to how the card is partitioned or formatted. Why This HappensSome smart cameras are designed to recognize only the first partition on an SD card.If your SD card contains multiple partitions, the camera will read only the first one and ignore the rest — making the displayed capacity seem smaller than expected. This typically occurs when the SD card was previously used in other devices (such as phones, dashcams, or computers) that created additional partitions. How to Fix ItTo make your camera read the full SD card capacity, try one of the following solutions:Merge all partitions into one.Insert the SD card into a computer using an SD card reader.Open a disk management tool (for example, Disk Management on Windows or Disk Utility on macOS).Delete all existing partitions and create one single full-size partition.Expand the first partition. If you prefer not to delete data, adjust the first partition’s size so it covers the entire available space.Once you’ve adjusted or reformatted the partitions, insert the SD card back into your smart camera and format it again within the app to ensure compatibility.Recommended PracticesAlways format your SD card in the Osaio app before using it.Use FAT32 or exFAT file systems for the best stability.Avoid SD cards that have been formatted by other devices without reformatting them for Osaio.

Understanding Cloud Service and Subscriptions
Cloud Service is an optional subscription that enhances your camera’s capabilities by enabling cloud-based video storage and smart features. It allows important event recordings to be securely stored online, so you can review them later even if the device is offline, reset, or damaged. Many users assume that purchasing a cloud plan automatically enables it for all devices under their account. In fact, cloud service works on a per-device basis and must be correctly linked to both your account and a specific camera to function properly. This article explains what cloud service does, how it works, and answers common questions about subscriptions and device binding. What Is Cloud Service?Cloud Service is a subscription-based feature that allows your camera to store event videos securely in the cloud and unlock advanced smart functions. It ensures your recordings are safely backed up and accessible even if the device is reset, damaged, or lost. Before using Cloud Service, it’s important to understand one key concept:Cloud subscriptions do not automatically apply to all devices under your account. Each cloud plan must be associated with a specific device to take effect. This article explains what Cloud Service does, how subscriptions work, and why cloud features may appear missing in some situations. What Does Cloud Service Do?With an active cloud subscription, your device can access cloud-based features such as:Cloud storage for event recordingsPlayback of historical event videosIntelligent event detection and filtering (depending on the device and plan)Secure off-device backup to prevent data lossIf no cloud subscription is active, the camera can still be used for live view and basic monitoring, but cloud recordings and related features will not be available. How Cloud Subscriptions Work (Account vs. Device)Cloud Service is purchased under an account, but activated on a specific device. For a cloud subscription to work correctly, all of the following conditions must be met:The subscription is purchased under the correct accountThe subscription is bound to a specific deviceThe device remains linked to that accountIf the device is removed, reset, or bound to another account, the cloud service will no longer appear active for that device—even if the subscription has not expired. This design prevents cloud plans from being unintentionally shared across multiple devices.Common QuestionsHow do I cancel my cloud subscription? You can cancel the subscription through the app store where the purchase was made. For step-by-step instructions, please refer to another Help Center article: How to Cancel a Cloud Subscription. After canceling, can I still use cloud features?Yes. Cloud features remain available until the end of the current billing period.Once the plan expires, cloud recording and playback will stop, while basic device functions remain unaffected. Why did my cloud subscription disappear after I unbound the device? This is normal behavior.Cloud subscriptions are tied to a specific device. When a device is unbound...

Do I Need a Cloud Subscription to Use My Camera?
No, a cloud subscription is not required to use your camera — but it depends on what you mean by "use." If you're referring to the camera as a whole, then no, you can still use your camera without a subscription. Core features remain available for free; only subscription-based features will be unavailable. However, if you're looking for a specific feature such as video playback, then yes, a cloud subscription (or a compatible SD card) is required to access it. In short, whether you need a cloud subscription comes down to your specific needs and how you use your camera. What You Can Do Without a SubscriptionWithout a cloud subscription, you can:View your camera's live stream at any timeReceive motion or event detection alertsView snapshot previews attached to alert notificationsWhat You Can't Do Without a SubscriptionWithout a cloud subscription, detected events are not recorded or saved to the cloud, which means you won't be able to play back video footage. This is the most common reason users are unable to find recordings after receiving an alert. To access video playback, your footage needs to be stored somewhere — either locally on an SD card or in the cloud. How to Enable Video PlaybackThere are two ways to enable video playback:SD Card (Local Storage): Insert a compatible SD card into your camera. Footage will be saved locally and can be played back directly in the app. Check your camera's product page to confirm whether your model supports SD card storage.Cloud Subscription: Subscribe to a cloud plan to have footage automatically saved to the cloud, accessible from anywhere at any time.If your camera model does not support an SD card, a cloud subscription is the only way to enable video playback.

Want a family member or housemate to keep an eye on things too? You can share access to any of your cameras directly from the Osaio app — no extra hardware needed. Before You StartCheck these two things before sharing:Both accounts must be registered in the same country. If you signed up with a UK account, the person you're sharing with also needs a UK Osaio account. Sharing across different country registrations isn't supported. Each camera can be shared with up to 3 people. This is to make sure live footage stays smooth for everyone watching — too many simultaneous viewers can cause buffering or delays. How to Share Your CameraOn the sharer's side:Open the Osaio app and go to the live view of the camera you want to share.Tap the share icon in the top-right corner of the screen.Enter the Osaio account (email address) of the person you want to share with.Tap Share to send the invitation. On the recipient's side:Open the Osaio app and go to the Messages section.Find the sharing invitation and tap Accept.Once accepted, the camera will appear in the recipient's device list and they can start viewing straight away. What Shared Users Can and Can't DoSharing gives someone meaningful access to your camera — but not the ability to change anything. Here's what that looks like in practice: Account ownerShared userWatch live footage✓✓View event clips & recordings✓✓Pan and tilt (PTZ cameras)✓✓Receive detection alerts✓✓View camera info page✓✓ (view only)Change camera settings✓✗Modify subscription or plan✓✗Add or remove shared users✓✗Rename or delete the device✓✗Shared users can watch, control the view, and receive alerts — but can't change anything. All settings, subscription management, and device administration stay with the account that owns the camera. Managing Shared AccessTo see who has access to a camera or to remove a shared user, go to the device's Settings page in the app. From there you can view your current share list and revoke access at any time. Removing a user takes effect immediately — the camera will disappear from their device list. Common QuestionsThe person I want to share with doesn't have an Osaio account. They'll need to create one first. Direct them to download the Osaio app and register — it's free. Make sure they register in the same country as you.I've already shared with 3 people and want to add another. You'll need to remove one of the existing shared users before adding someone new. Why You Might Not Receive a Camera Sharing Invitation in the Osaio App
The camera sharing feature in the Osaio App lets family members or friends view the same camera from different accounts. If you’re not receiving a sharing invitation, the issue is usually related to one of the following reasons:🌍 1. Account Regions Don’t MatchSharing invitations can only be delivered between accounts registered in the same region. If one account is registered in the United States and the other in Europe, for example, the invitation will not be received.📧 2. Incorrect Email AddressIf the inviter entered your email address incorrectly, the invitation will not be sent to your account.Make sure the inviter uses the exact email address linked to your Osaio account — including the domain (such as “.com”).Example: alex.smith@gmail.com is not the same as alex.smith@outlook.com.📱 3. Outdated App VersionIf either user is running an older version of the Osaio App, it may not support the latest sharing features.Invitations can fail to send or appear delayed.🌐 4. Unstable Network ConnectionA weak or unstable internet connection can block or delay invitations. Both users need a stable network to send and receive sharing requests successfully.💬 5. Missed the Invitation in MessagesSometimes the invitation is sent correctly but goes unnoticed.Check the “Messages” section in the Osaio App — pending invitations may be waiting for your approval there.SummaryIf you don’t receive a camera sharing invitation, it’s usually due to region mismatch, incorrect email, app version issues, or network instability.Once those are resolved, invitations will appear smoothly in your app’s Messages section.

Why Does My Camera Say “Wi-Fi Password Error” Even When the Password Is Correct?
When setting up your device in the Osaio app, you may hear a voice prompt saying “Wi-Fi password incorrect” or see a message that it can’t find the Wi-Fi network, even though both your network name and password are correct. This issue is usually caused by a weak or unstable Wi-Fi signal, not an incorrect password.Learn why your device connected through the Osaio app may report a Wi-Fi password error even when credentials are correct, and how to fix it by setting up near the router for a stronger connection. The Signal Might Be Too Weak for Initial SetupDuring setup, your device relies on a strong and stable Wi-Fi signal to complete the pairing process. If the signal is weak or the router is too far away, the device may fail to connect properly and mistakenly report a password error.Try Setting Up Near the RouterTo ensure a smooth and stable setup:1️⃣ Move your device close to your Wi-Fi router — ideally within 1–2 meters.2️⃣ Open the Osaio app and start the pairing process.3️⃣ Wait until the device successfully connects to the network.4️⃣ Once setup is complete and the device shows as online in the app, move it back to the preferred location. This process helps the device establish a strong initial connection before being placed farther away.Double-Check Your Network ConditionsIf you still experience connection problems:Ensure your phone is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.Check that the Wi-Fi signal in your desired device location is stable. Weak or fluctuating signals can cause setup or streaming interruptions.Quick RecapEven when your Wi-Fi name and password are correct, a “Wi-Fi password error” usually points to a signal strength issue.Set up your device close to the router, complete the connection, and then move it to where you want it.
